Cavaliers to Hold Auditions for Public Address Announcer and In-Arena Host for 2005-06 Season on Wednesday, July 20th

CLEVELAND, June 30 – Auditions for two high-profile positions on the Cavaliers in-game presentation staff will be held on Wednesday, July 20th at St. Edward High School in Lakewood. The team is looking for a Public Address Announcer whose duties will include announcing starting line-ups, all game action, public address announcements, contests and more. The second position is that of In-Arena Host to emcee the many on-court and in-arena activities that take place during Cavaliers games.

The public address announcer will be the main voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers while in the arena. The announcer and in-arena host will work closely together and be a key part of the Cavaliers exciting game night experience.

Qualifications for Cavaliers Public Address Announcer:
  • Strong vocal talent
  • Spontaneous and quick witted
  • Unique and definitive personality
  • Must have strong knowledge of NBA basketball; including rules and players, and have the ability to work with NBA referees and statisticians
  • Must feel comfortable announcing to crowds of over 20,000 on a microphone
  • Must be able to attend all Cavaliers home games and arrive three hours before game time During the audition, in addition to an interview, each applicant will announce a simulated Cavaliers game.

    The In-Arena Host’s duties will include hosting a pre-game show that will be broadcast in-arena, hosting all on-court contests held during timeouts, conducting one-on-one interviews with fans in the arena and more.

  • Charismatic personality and a great sense of humor; contagious personality
  • Dynamic and unique presentation style
  • Spontaneous and quick witted
  • Energetic and at ease with a crowd
  • Must be able to attend all Cavaliers home games and arrive three hours prior to game time.

    Auditions for in-arena host will include an interview and a mock game where each applicant will host an on-court contest simulated from a Cavaliers game.
