CAVALIERS ANNOUNCE GUND ARENA NBA DRAFT NIGHT CELEBRATION FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 26
The night-long celebration will feature a diverse array of fun, festival-like interactive activities for the whole family, as well as a huge balloon drop and confetti launch when James is officially announced as the Cavaliers’ first pick. “This certainly has the potential to be one of the defining moments in local sports history. We want to celebrate the occasion with our fans in a big way.”, said Len Komoroski, Cavaliers president.
The Cavaliers will also have a live stage show hosted by Cavaliers legend Austin Carr and Cavaliers television play-by-play announcer Michael Reghi, featuring continuing draft analysis and special celebrity guests throughout the evening. Gund Arena will join the NBA Draft 2003 live broadcast on ESPN starting at 7:30 p.m. when the Cavaliers will go “on the clock” with their first pick. The national broadcast will be shown on ArenaVision, Gund Arena’s four-sided center-hung video board. Throughout the evening, ArenaVision will break to live shots from the Cavaliers’ “draft room” where Cavaliers Senior Vice President and General Manager Jim Paxson will be coordinating the draft.
Special activities throughout Gund Arena for children and adults include
a photo station for pictures with the Cavaliers “number one” logo card and
ping pong balls from the recent NBA Draft Lottery event, live music, balloon
artists, entertainers, inflatable games, face painting and temporary tattoo parlor
and other interactive activities. Tours of the Cavaliers’ team locker
room will be available, and the event will also feature special appearances
and past Cavaliers players.
