CLEVELAND, OH - August 4th, 2009 -– For the fifth time in six seasons, the Cleveland Cavaliers will open the 2009-10 season, presented again by Cub Cadet Premium Lawn Equipment, at Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when they take on the Boston Celtics in a nationally-televised game on TNT. In their first back-to-back games of the season, the Cavaliers will then travel to Toronto for their first road game of the season against the Raptors on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The Cavaliers are slated to appear on at least 29 national television broadcasts, 14 of which will originate from downtown Cleveland at The Q, including:

10 games on ESPN (Nov. 6 at New York, Nov. 11 at Orlando, Nov. 18 at Washington, Dec. 4 vs. Chicago, Dec. 11 vs. Portland, Jan. 8 at Denver, Jan. 10 at Portland, March 5 vs. Detroit, March 21 vs. Detroit, April 2 vs. Atlanta).

10 games on TNT (Oct. 27 vs. Boston, Nov. 5 vs. Chicago, Nov. 12 at Miami, Jan. 14 at Utah, Jan. 21 vs. L.A. Lakers, Feb. 4 vs. Miami, Feb. 11 vs. Orlando, Feb. 18 vs. Denver, Feb. 25 at Boston, April 8 at Chicago).

Five games on ABC (Dec. 25 at L.A. Lakers, Feb. 21 at Orlando, March 14 vs. Boston, April 4 at Boston, April 11 vs. Orlando).

Four games on NBATV (Dec. 20 at Dallas, Dec. 21 at Phoenix, Jan. 25 at Miami, March 8 vs. San Antonio).

In addition the Cavaliers will have eight games aired nationally on ESPN Radio (Nov. 12 at Miami, Dec. 25 at L.A. Lakers, Jan. 14 at Utah, Jan. 21 vs. L.A. Lakers, Feb. 21 at Orlando, March 14 vs. Boston, April 4 at Boston, April 11 vs. Orlando).

The local television broadcast schedule on FOX Sports Ohio will be announced at a later date. All games will be broadcast locally on radio via the Cavaliers’ flagship station WTAM 1100 AM.

The Cavaliers won an NBA-best and franchise-high 66 games (66-16; .805) during the 2008-09 regular season, including posting a 39-2 (.951) record at home. Dating back to the 2005-06 season, Cleveland has a regular season record of 211-117 (.643), including being tied for the 2nd best home record at 127-37 (.774) over that span, and is the only team in the NBA to have reached at least the second round of the playoffs in each of the last four postseasons.

This season’s 82-game schedule again consists of 41 home and 41 road games. The Cavaliers will face each Western Conference opponent twice this season, once at home and once on the road. Each Eastern Conference opponent will match up against Cleveland four times with the exception of Miami, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, whom the Cavs will play three times.

For the third consecutive year and 10th time in franchise history, the Cavaliers will play on Christmas Day as they square off against the NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers in Los Angeles. Cleveland will also play the Celtics in Boston on Easter Sunday on April 4.

Cleveland’s schedule also includes:

19 weekend games with six Friday games, six Saturday games and seven Sunday games.

Three matinee games at home this season that will include a matchup with the Boston Celtics (March 14), an appearance from the Sacramento Kings (March 28) and their final home game of the season against the Orlando Magic (April 11).

Hosting a season-high seven-game home stand (Jan. 31 to Feb. 18).

24 of the Cavs’ final 40 games at home at The Q, including six of the final nine.

Their longest road trip, spanning five games (Jan. 8 to Jan. 16).

18 back-to-back games throughout the season, including seven road-home sets, six home-road sets and five road-road sets.

Full season tickets are currently on sale, while partial season (multiple game) ticket plans will go on sale later in August. Deposits for partial season ticket plans and group tickets (20 or more tickets to a single game) are now being accepted to determine seating location priority. Single-game tickets will go on sale closer to the start of the season on a date to be announced.
