(On Anderson Varejao’s importance to tonight’s game): “He was very important. All season when we called his number, he’s been ready to play. He came in and gave us great energy. I thought he did a great job on Anthony Davis just being a pest, bothering him a lot and rebounding the basketball. He was just great for us tonight.”

Hear more from Coach Lue ...

(On how much the team has picked up the offense under Coach Lue): “I think it is in the process and it’s ongoing. He wants us to play with tempo; but when we don’t have it, he wants us to execute. He wants us to get the ball moving from side to side and a habit that we need to break away from which is not playing on the strong side as much. If we don’t have anything, then we need to get it moving and try to execute on the other side as well. We have been playing every other day and that means we haven’t had much time to practice, but watching the game film after every game will help us.”

(On attacking with the ball more): “I think it’s been going fairly well. Just me as a competitor and the point guard of the team, there is mental block sometimes where I come off pick and rolls and Coach wants me to attack every single time. I think being able to find the in-between game and that rhythm between us as point guard and coach. We are still getting there. I just try to come to the sidelines as much as possible and come out of halftime doing what he tells me to do. He just keeps telling me to be aggressive and if I want to get off the ball then there are plays that I can run for other guys. So we are just finding our package. As a former point guard, Coach Lue is continuing to help me.”

(On if this win helps the team get back on track): “Yeah, from an offensive standpoint we executed the way we wanted to and from the defensive standpoint we got stops when we needed them. That’s a stepping stone for us so we have to take it in stride.”
