(On what he liked best about closing the game on a 17-5 run): “Just having the confidence to step up and make shots. I thought LeBron (James) drove to the basket a few times…he just stayed with it. For the most part, with Kyrie (Irving) and LeBron, the pick and roll is hard to defend. You can’t really switch it. If you show and try to get back, LeBron is catching it on the run. I thought they did a great job of mixing it up. I thought Kevin (Love) stayed with it and made some big shots for us down the stretch. That’s what our team is. Every night, there’s going to be someone different stepping up and making a big shot. J.R. (Smith) made a big shot for us too when we were down one…(That’s) just the confidence that we have in each other.”

(On the success early, then on what went wrong and how they corrected it): “I think at the end of the day, we are going to learn from the mistakes that we made tonight. The best thing about our team is that we will make adjustments going into Game 2 and we’ll learn from what we could have done much better. I think we played an ok game, but I don’t think we played to our standards. We obviously gave up that lead in the third quarter, but the first game is always a feel out. We look forward to the challenges that are up against us.”

(On nature of his game to be so impactful against Atlanta): “Every series is different. Against the Hawks, in terms of (Paul) Millsap and (Al) Horford, we are kind of the same active “bigs”. For me it is just staying relentless on the glass. Maybe in the first half I only have two offensive rebounds, but I’m just going to keep hitting the glass every possession. As the third and fourth quarter hits, that’s when I try to use my technique to create second chance opportunities for my teammates.”
