Cavaliers By The Numbers
The young Cavaliers had their share of ups and downs this season, but the future is still quite bright.

Kyrie Irving had a sensational sophomore campaign, as did his 2011 draft classmate, Tristan Thompson. Alonzo Gee and Tristan were the squad’s iron men, several second unit players – like Luke Walton, Wayne Ellington and Mo Speights – put up some impressive numbers. And Dion Waiters and Tyler Zeller gave us a nice glimpse of things to come.

While the Cavaliers conduct their search for the squad’s next head coach, here are some interesting integers from the 2012-13 season …

14.9 …second chance points the Cavs averaged per contest, second-best in the Eastern Conference

12.2 … offensive rebounds Cleveland averaged per game, good for seventh-best in the NBA

31 … double-doubles Tristan Thompson posted this season, good for seventh in the Eastern Conference and 11th-most in Cavaliers franchise history

22.5, 5.9, .855 …Kyrie Irving’s scoring average, assist average and free throw percentage, joining Lenny Wilkens as the only other Cavalier to average at least 20 points and five helpers per contest while shooting 80 percent or better from the stripe.

0 … games that Alonzo Gee and Tristan Thompson missed this season, making them the first pair of Cavaliers to start every game in a season since Clarence Weatherspoon and Andre Miller did so in 2000-01
