Cavaliers ... By The Numbers

Cavaliers By The Numbers
The shorthanded Cavaliers have taken some lumps of late, but they look to bounce back when Boston rolls in to The Q. While we wait for Paul Pierce and Co., here are some numerical nuggets, but with a new twist.

Today’s “By the Numbers” features a few entries courtesy of STATS – a premium new statistical data bank that breaks down basketball numbers into even more interesting categories.

For example, one statistic shows that Tristan Thompson – who moves at 4.4 miles per hour – is much faster than Dion Waiters – who’s at 3.9 mph. Of course, one has to factor in the entire “dribbling” thing that Dion has to deal with, but it’s still a unique fact of the game. (And one Tristan would no doubt taunt Waiters with if he was aware of it.)

So as the Wine and Gold try to get themselves back on track, here are some more interesting integers – with STATS entries marked with a * -- to chew on as Byron Scott’s squad prepares to face the Celtics on Wednesday night.
