Pregame - The Cavs (13-24) make their first of two trips to Staples Center for their first meeting of the year against the shorthanded Lakers (14-23), who are expecting Pau Gasol back in the lineup for tonight’s game. Both teams are coming off painful losses. The Cavs were handed their worst loss of the season, a 44-point drubbing in Sacramento. But the Lakers have lost four straight, each by double-digits. Since the 2005-06 All-Star Break, the Cavaliers are 9-5 against L.A. – the best by record against the Lakers in that span.

CJ Miles comes into the game as the Cavs hottest player. He’s notched double-figures in every game of 2014 (six games), averaging 19.8 points on .548 shooting – including .583 from beyond the arc. Dion Waiters (15.4 ppg) comes into tonight’s game as the Cavs highest-scoring bench player since Hot Rod Williams.

Same starting lineup through the West Coast trip: G Irving, G Miles, F Deng, F Thompson, C Varejao
