Loving Jovana? Here's Even More About Her

WHAT IS ONE THING MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? I love to write in my spare time. I have a journal of my favorite quotes that I have collected over the years and I will be starting a fashion/beauty/lifestyle blog soon!

DO YOU HAVE ANY NICKNAMES? I have a lot! Sometimes, people get frustrated trying to pronounce my name correctly so they just give me a new nickname. Some include Jo, Yoyo, and Jov. My dad has always called me Djokica. It’s after this ice cream called Djole that I loved to eat when I was little! Also, my niece calls me Ovana because she can’t say my full name.

BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? Becoming a Cavalier Girl:)

A FAILURE YOU LEARNED FROM: Growing up in the dance world, I have definitely had more failures than successes, which is normal. However, when I was little, I would get down on myself if I didn’t make a team or if I wasn’t in the front row for a dance. I would cry and think that my whole world was caving in. My mom was by my side through all of it and would always tell me to get back up and try again, that sitting and crying about it wouldn’t change anything. As I got older, I took more chances and I stopped getting discouraged if something didn’t work out. I took everything as a learning experience. Looking at where I am today, that sure paid off. Thanks mom!

WHAT FAMOUS PERSON (DEAD OR ALIVE) WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH? I’d like to have dinner with one of my favorite authors, Jane Austen. I’d tell her in person how courageous I think she was for writing in a time of only male novelists and I’d pick her brain about the plot twists that I couldn’t get enough of in her books.

What is your guilty pleasure? Sephora…

What would be your super power? To be able to fly!

What celebrity would play you in a movie about yourself: Megan Fox

I am most proud of: Myself for overcoming the many obstacles in my path to reach this point in my life of complete happiness.

What is your dancing background and experience? I grew up dancing competitively for studios in my area as well as for my high school dance team. I finished two years of the Dance program at the University of Akron, but had to stop due to an injury. I then changed my major to Media Studies to continue with my love of writing and now I am dancing for the best dance team in the NBA and continuing my dream of being a professional dancer!

Why did you decide to audition for the Cavalier Girls? Being a Cavalier Girl had always been a dream of mine and this past summer, I decided that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain so I took my destiny into my own hands and gave it a shot! Dreams do come true!

If you can say anything to Cavalier fans, what would you say?   Thank you guys so much for all the continuous love and support. WE LOVE YOU!

What advice would you give someone who dreams of becoming a Cavalier Girl? I would say to work hard and prepare yourself both physically and mentally. We sometimes forget that to succeed, we need to be in the right mindset, as well. Tell yourself every day that you are a beautiful, sexy, confident, amazing woman. Tell yourself that you are enough and that you will try your best at whatever it is you wish to accomplish. If being a Cavalier Girl is your dream, say it out loud that you WILL be a Cavalier Girl. Put that sentence out into the universe because it will help. If it doesn’t end up happening, do not feel too discouraged. Everything in your life happens for a reason and at a certain time. There is a bigger plan for us than we can fathom at times and maybe something bigger is on its way! Things have a funny way of working themselves out.

What do you like most about being a part of the Cavalier Girls? I love the fact that I get to be an ambassador for the city I was raised in. I feel very honored and proud. I am so lucky to be able to share my love of dance with the world and represent such an amazing organization of champions.

Most memorable Cavalier Girl moment so far? Getting to engage with the fans for the first time! It was incredible seeing so many people sharing the love we all have for the Cavs!

Hardest part about being a Cavalier Girl? Time management is definitely the hardest part. My planner is my best friend and helps me stay on top of all the rehearsals, appearances, and games we have. It’s a lot at times, but it’s so much fun that it doesn’t even feel like work. I haven’t had one day that I wasn’t over the moon excited about being a Cavalier Girl.
