Local Teens Receive Championship Rings

The 2016 NBA Championship belonged as much to the City of Cleveland and residents across Northeast Ohio as it did to the Cavaliers themselves, and in continuation of that, a group of local teens were treated to their own special championship celebration. Like the Cavaliers did on Opening Night in October, on Tuesday approximately 125 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland visited the club location at John Adams High School for a ring ceremony of their own.

The students from six area Boys & Girls Clubs gathered in the John Adams cafeteria for a private ring ceremony emceed by Cavs in-arena host Ahmaad, where they were each given a replica championship ring from legend Campy Russell and the president of Baron Championship Rings, Peter Kanis. Each ring has the Boys & Girls Clubs logo etched on the inside. Members of the Cavalier Girls, Scream Team and Q Spirit Squad were also on-hand to provide entertainment.

Following the ceremony, everyone headed to the NBA Cares Live, Learn and Play Center there at the John Adams club to unveil a Fathead of the Cavs championship banner. The students also had the opportunity to see the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy there. The Cavs and the NBA renovated the space during the 2016 NBA Finals.
