Cavs Reading and Learning Center Opens at Entrepreneurship Preparatory School
Cleveland, Sept. 28 -The Cleveland Cavaliers proudly took another step in their commitment to make a positive impact on Cleveland’s youth by opening the fourth Cavaliers Reading and Learning Center presented by Allstate Insurance. In a dedication ceremony on Thursday, September 28th, the new Reading and Learning Center at Cleveland’s Entrepreneurship Preparatory School was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil a Cavaliers-themed area filled with new computers, furniture and books for the school’s 130 students.

Cavaliers players Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Shannon Brown along with Cavs Legend Campy Russell were on hand for the ribbon cutting honors and then joined 20 sixth graders for a tour of the new center before sitting down for a “reading timeout.”

The grand opening marked the fourth center in Northeast Ohio that has been funded and constructed by the Cavaliers under the auspices of the Cavaliers Read to Achieve program. The development of Reading and Learning Centers allows qualified non-profit organizations with the opportunity to improve the condition of its current facility as well as to improve the quality of its literacy and educational programming.

“The Cavs are proud to partner with such a dynamic and unique school like E Prep,” said Chad Estis, Cavaliers executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “The Reading and Learning Center is a great resource for E Prep to continue to provide an educationally and technologically advanced environment for their students.”

Decorated in Cavaliers colors wine, gold and navy, the center features Cavaliers photos and the team logo on the walls. It is furnished with brand new carpeting, study tables, chairs and bookshelves. The center also received 28 computers with 15 inch flat screen monitors with high speed internet access and 500 new books for their library. Donations to furnish and equip the center were made by Wayside Furniture, Wise Brothers, Sun Microsystems and OneCleveland.

Entrepreneurship Preparatory School is dedicated to providing a premier educational experience to students throughout the city of Cleveland. The school emphasizes a technologically advanced, safe, and disciplined environment to promote individual educational growth resulting in above proficient test scores, graduation, and acceptance to a four-year college or university. The hope is that the graduating students will return to their communities to become positive, progressive citizens with an entrepreneurial spirit.

The Cavaliers 2006-07 Read to Achieve Program is presented by Time Warner Cable, in association with Fifth Third Bank and KraftMaid Cabinetry.
