‘Twas the Week Before Christmas, and All Through the Unit...
CLEVELAND, OH - December 20, 2011 - The ENTIRE Cavaliers roster decked the halls of the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, delivering tidings of comfort and joy to some of their biggest heroes. The young patients received a visit from a player and a holiday gift - a Cavaliers pillows to be exact.
Clad in Cavalier-themed Santa hats, the Cavaliers roster split into four groups and visited each wing of the Children’s Hospital. They touched the lives of children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers. In turn, the children managed to tug the heartstrings of each and every player.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to spend some time this holiday season with these kids,” said veteran guard Anthony Parker. “I speak for my entire team in saying they are our true heroes. Most of them won’t be able to leave the hospital to spend the holiday with
their families so just to bring a smile to their faces means so much.”
This heartwarming annual hospital visit is part of NBA Cares Home for the Holidays and the Cavaliers Season of Giving. The NBA and its teams and players are out in their communities hosting hundreds of charitable events across the country in an effort to brighten the holidays for thousands of children and families.
Through NBA Cares, the league and its teams and players have donated more than $160 million to charity, completed more than 1.7 million hours of community service and created more than 620 places where kids and families can live, learn or play.
