Learning From the Pros

Students at STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights got their new year off to a good start with a surprise visit from the Cavaliers on Monday, January 9th. With three of the public charter school’s classes enrolled in the Cavs “Fit as a Pro” program, presented by Medical Mutual and in association with Giant Eagle, the Cavs were there to show the whole student body how they too can be ‘fit as a pro.’

The full school “gym class takeover” was led by Cavs PA announcer Olivier and in-arena host Ahmaad. The two were joined by “The Q Fit Squad,” made up of members of the Cavaliers Girls, Scream Team and Q Spirit Squad. The entertainers put on a show for the kids, and then talked to them about what goes into being performers. Some of the common aspects discussed amongst the group were eating healthy, practicing alot, and getting plenty of rest.

After learning from the pros, the students got to try to perform like them. Several of the kids took part in an animated dance-off. To top it off, the teachers then held their own! The students were more than enthused as they watched their leaders try “Cupid Shuffle.”

Going “to the right, to the right, to the right, to the right….” is one way to stay “fit as a pro!”
