CLEVELAND, OH - November 17, 2009 - On Monday, November 16, Cavaliers players Jamario Moon, Leon Powe and Coby Karl teamed up with ARAMARK’s Chef Dave to share some nutritional eating tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle with 28 students from Olmsted Falls Intermediate School as part of the Cavaliers “Fit as a Pro” initiative presented by Medical Mutual. The Cavaliers Fit as a Pro program is designed to promote physical fitness and healthy eating habits among elementary school children in seven counties across Northeast Ohio.

The students had the opportunity to talk with the players about the role good nutrition plays in keeping them physically fit and mentally sharp, and Chef Dave explained the importance of what they eat and how to look for the best ingredients when shopping and other helpful hints.

The students prepared healthy dishes that they could replicate at home to share with family and friends for holiday meals and parties over the next couple of months. All of these meals were based on a Mediterranean diet.

The students were broken up into groups and rotated between four stations to prepare the special recipes getting assistance from their sous-chefs straight from the Cavs Culinary Academy….Jamario, Leon and Coby. Upon completing the dishes, the Jr. chefs got to sit down and enjoy their cuisine with the players.

After cooking, the kids were able to ask a few questions to the players, where they learned that Leon Powe’s favorite food is spaghetti with ground up turkey, and Jamario Moon will basically eat anything except squash! At the end, all three players passed out gift bags with autographed recipe books containing all of the recipes they had made.
