CLEVELAND, OH - November 10, 2009 - On Monday, November 9th, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, along with the World’s Most Famous Clown Ronald McDonald and Cavs mascot Moondog, led children from the Rainey Institute on a “Fast Break” shopping spree through the aisles of Discount Drug Mart in Independence. The teams of children filled carts with as many items as possible from the “wish lists” of the Ronald McDonald Houses located in Cleveland and in Akron.

Immediately following a trip through the check-out aisle, the group headed across the street to McDonald’s where the children sorted their purchases into gift baskets for each of the Ronald McDonald Houses. Representatives from both of the Ronald McDonald Houses were on-site to accept the baskets made by the children with the assistance of the Cavaliers sharpshooter and the World Famous Clown.

This special event raised awareness for McDonald’s Give-A-Hand program. November 10-20th, customers at McDonald restaurants can show their support by purchasing colorful tiny cut-out paper hands symbolizing children reaching out to other children around the world for $1 each. In honor of the 35th anniversary of the first Ronald McDonald House, all proceeds for each Hand purchased, up to $35,000, will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland.
