BE IT ON THE PAGE, STAGE, OR SCREEN, everybody loves hearing a good story, especially when told by a court of Cavaliers. Such was the case on Wednesday evening at Regal's Crocker Park cinemas as Cavaliers Ira Newble and David Wesley hosted a Happy Feet Reading Timeout for the Lorain County Boys and Girls Club, part of the Cavs Read to Achieve Program*.

Ranging in ages from toddling to teens, the young folks were treated to a reading then a screening of the Warner Bros. movie, Happy Feet, the tuxedoed tale of a flightless tot and his adventures in tundraland, featuring the voices of Elijah Wood and Robin Williams.

Greeted by mascots Moondog and Mumble along with Cavs on-court host, Ahmaad, the 100-plus parents and kids in the audience were treated to refreshments and Cavaliers gift bags. The highlight of the evening came with the appearance of Wine and Gold forward Ira Newble and guard David Wesley, who engaged the crowd with their animated telling of the penguin tale.

Ira and David, who as Cavaliers are in the process of writing their own bit of basketball history on the North Coast this season, kept the kids engrossed and appeared to relish the stage and their roles in the performance of the pages they were presenting. The Ira and David show, with son David, Jr. sitting on the NBA veteran's lap, kept the young folks wide-eyed and enraptured as they sat on the floor looking up to these big men with the kind voices who took the time to make an otherwise ordinary Wednesday night something special they'll remember forever.
