Cavaliers Unveil Basketball Court and Draft Pick
In partnership with Toyota, the NBA and the Cavaliers teamed up to build a brand new basketball court at the East End Neighborhood House in Cleveland. Special guests - including Cavaliers Legends Campy Russell and Austin Carr, Play-by-Play Announcer Fred McLeod, General Manger Danny Ferry, Head Coach Mike Brown and first-round pick Christian Eyenga cut the ribbon on the new court and then joined local youngsters to shoot some hoops. Also joining in were Brad Gilchrist (Cleveland District Sales Manager, Toyota) and Paul Hill (Executive Director, East End Neighborhood House).
Now in its second season, Toyota Project Rebound is a community initiative established by the NBA and Toyota Motor Sales, USA. The program includes 21 hands-on community service projects that will be hosted by NBA, WNBA, and NBA Development League teams, and will include court refurbishments, the creation of Reading & Learning Centers, and other Legacy Projects providing youth safe places to live, learn, or play. The 24th annual Cavaliers Youth Fund Golf Classic presented by Jani-King, will be held at the Westfield Group Country Club on Monday, July 27, 2009. The beautiful Westfield Group Country Club, located in Medina County, features two 18-hole championship courses and first-class amenities and accommodations.
The Cavaliers Youth Fund Golf Classic has become one of the most successful charity golf outings in Northeast Ohio. The event features golf with former Cavalier greats like Austin Carr and Campy Russell, a delicious brunch prior to the tournament, and a casual cocktail hour and silent auction following your day on the course.
