The Cavaliers acquired Anderson Varejao from the Orlando Magic along with Drew Gooden and Steven Hunter in exchange for Tony Battie and two future second-round picks on July 23, 2004. Varejao appeared in 27 regular season games for F.C. Barcelona, averaging 7.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Eduardo: Hi, what up Andy? What are your expectations for your Rookie year? Get as many minutes as you can, prove you belong in the league, be in the roster or just improve and learn as much as you can? Best of luck to you mano!!

Anderson Varejao: My biggest goal is to improve each practice and hopefully I will earn more playing time. I plan to improve my English and hopefully in a few months I will be fluent.

Adam Amburgey (Kent, OH): How do you feel about the recent suspensions? And how big of an opportunity is this for the Cavs to make a push for a 2nd or 3rd seat in the East?

Anderson Varejao: Things like this have happened at soccer games in Brazil before, although it is not common. The difference is the fan came to the player's bench and punched the player. I have a lot of confidence in this team, we will continue to improve and hopefully we will get the 2nd or 3rd seed or better.

Dan (Brecksville, OH): Welcome to Cleveland, Anderson! When will you get your driver's license, anytime soon? Are you a little nervous about driving in the snow?

Anderson Varejao: I hope to get my license very soon. I've been taking lessons each week. I have not hit anything yet, so that's good. I am worried a little about parking and driving in the snow. The only times I've driven before this was on the beaches in Brazil.

Sofia (Brazil): Which nick do you prefer: "Wild Thing", "Andy", "Varejao" or "Sideshow Bob"? Love, your cousin Sofia

Anderson Varejao: The coaches and other players call me Andy, but definitely not Sideshow Bob!

Joe (New York, NY): Plenty of people say that you play the same style of basketball as Drew Gooden. Do you agree with this or do you feel that both of you play differently?

Anderson Varejao: My game is up and down grabbing offensive and defensive rebounds, playing hard defense, and trying to block shots. Most of my offense is from hustle plays.

Joseph (New York, NY): What differences did you find between Brazilian basketball, Euroleague basketball, and NBA basketball?

Anderson Varejao: If you remember one game in the preseason, I hit the ball off the cylinder which is legal in the Euroleague. There are differences with substitutions also.

Matt (Columbus, OH): When are we going to see that beautiful head of hair our of the corn-rows and bouncing around again?

Anderson Varejao: Maybe not for a while, I like the corn rows better. When you have your hair braided into corn rows in Brazil, it tends to hurt more than in the U.S.A.

Mike (Bedford, OH): Who do you hang out with most on the team?

Anderson Varejao: I am friends with Sasha, Luke, and Zydrunas. I ride with Luke to practice each day.

Tom: How do you like it so far in Cleveland?

Anderson Varejao: The only thing I knew about Cleveland before I moved here is that there was a big lake. I found a good place to eat here where I can have my favorite food: barbeque chicken hearts. It's at Brasa in downtown Cleveland.

Brian (Akron, OH): Which women are better looking, Clevelanders, or Brazilians?

Anderson Varejao: There really is no comparison!

Fabrizio (Franca - SP - Brazil): Hey Anderson, congratulations for achieving the top in a basketball player career... You're in the NBA. Everybody here in Franca is really happy for you, who started in our city. We wish you all the luck and hope to see more of you on court. Best of luck, Fabrizio

Anderson Varejao: Thank you for the support. I appreciate the kind words. Thank you all for participating in the chat today.

Josh (Streetsboro, OH): Are you currently dating anyone?

Anderson Varejao: Si. Tengo una novia.

Oni (Japan): How would you describe your relationship with Lebron?

Anderson Varejao: He's a spectacular player. I hope to learn a lot from him. He does incredible things in practice and in games.

Guilherme (Australia): Hey Anderson, Great to see a man from my home country playing in my favourite team. My question is how did you get from where you are now to when you were a young boy? Thanks,Muito Brigado! Guilherme

Anderson Varejao: I used to play soccer, but I grew so much as a teenager, so I took up playing basketball. My brother Sandro played basketball too.

Stephen (Pepper Pike, OH): What is the best thing you've ever seen lebron do in practice or a game?

Anderson Varejao: His slam dunk against the Bobcats in Charlotte. I've never seen someone jump so high.

TJ (Ohio): What type of things do you when your not shooting hoops?

Anderson Varejao: I go out to eat with our trainer Mike, go to my language lessons and driving lessons.

barcelona: I DONīTSPEAK ENGLIS I AM SPANISH ANDERSON ESTAS A GUSTO EN CLEVELAND. DO YOU LIKE CLEVELAND? how is lebron james? do you have visited at home of lebron james?

Anderson Varejao: Me gusta Cleveland mucho, pero mucho frio. LeBron James es un jugador especial. Nuca visite la casa de LeBron. Thanks again for your support. Wish us luck this year and with my driving test!
