The Cleveland Cavaliers concluded the 9th Annual Black Heritage Celebration (BHC) presented by State Farm on March 1st at the Cavs vs. Los Angeles Clippers game at Quicken Loans Arena. Surprise School Visit

In honor of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, the Cavs put on their party hats for education at the historic Little Red Schoolhouse in Oberlin, Ohio as part of Read to Achieve presented by Time Warner Cable in association with Castaway Bay and the Cavaliers Black Heritage Celebration presented by State Farm. Cavs players Tyler Zeller and CJ Miles spent the afternoon with 20 students of the Louis Agassiz Elementary School to learn about President Lincoln, the history of the Little Red Schoolhouse and how they both have significant ties to Black History Month. Making A Difference

9th Annual Black Heritage Celebration

“Making a Difference” will be this year’s theme for the Cavaliers 9th Annual Black Heritage Celebration presented by State Farm to commemorate Black History Month. The BHC officially begins at the Cavs vs. Orlando Magic game on Friday, February 8th at 7:30 p.m., when the team will honor Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for 100 years of scholarship, sisterhood and service throughout the nation and Greater Cleveland. Making A Difference

As part of the Cavaliers Black Heritage Celebration presented by State Farm, players, coaches and employees teamed up with the City Year Program for a series of beautification projects to help foster positive learning environments in Cleveland schools: Glenville High School, Marion Sterling Elementary, East Technical High School and Citizens Leadership Academy.
