As NBA China’s Chief Financial Officer, Steve Richard is responsible for its financial operations. These responsibilities include cash and treasury management, all aspects of financial accounting, tax compliance and reporting, performance reporting, and organization-wide business planning.
Richard joined the NBA in April 1998 from Citibank, N.A. While at Citibank, Richard was Vice President and Region Director in the Corporate Audit Group. He was responsible for resolving audit issues and setting and managing the strategic direction for auditing the bank’s U.S. consumer business.
Prior to working for Citibank, Richard was affiliated with AT&T as District Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, responsible for analyzing AT&T results for senior management and supporting AT&T’s CFO in delivering monthly financial performance presentations to AT&T’s Board of Directors.
Before moving to AT&T, Richard was affiliated with Deloitte & Touche LLP as Senior Audit Manager, responsible for developing and managing client relationships, as well as delivering the firm’s audit services.
Richard is a 1994 recipient of the Harlem YMCA’s Black Achievers in Industry Award. He serves on the boards of trustees for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and NJ Seeds. He is also an active member in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a past president of the National Association of Black Accountants, Northern New Jersey Chapter.
Richard is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, and Columbia Business School in New York, where he earned his M.B.A. in finance.
