KENNETH (KENNY) PAYNE
Kenny Payne is a 20-year veteran of event planning and management at the National Basketball Association, who oversees production, operations, sponsorship fulfillment, and execution for major domestic and international NBA events. He leads 15 staff members in the management of hotel, social function, and other hospitality logistics, including event communications and client services for all NBA, WNBA, and NBA Development League events and meetings.
Payne has influenced many recent notable league events, including NBA All-Star 2012 in Orlando, Fla., the 2011 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the 2012 Team Marketing Meetings, as well as the record-shattering 59th NBA All-Star Game in Dallas in 2010. In 2009, he managed more than 200 event days across eight countries, including China, Taiwan, and Brazil. In 2008, events in the sphere of Payne’s management, which included the Beijing Olympic Games, represented more than 250 event days and took place across 10 countries, including China, India, and Germany.
Prior to Payne’s arrival at the NBA, he spent six years as Regional Program Director at Safaris, Inc., a worldwide destination management company. He traveled extensively in that position, managing the logistical components of business conventions and meetings for several of the world’s Fortune 500 corporations.
A 1987 graduate of Florida International University in Miami with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Payne also played four years of intercollegiate basketball.
Payne currently lives in New Jersey with his wife Judy and two sons Langston and Bryant.2/2012
