Scott O’Neil was named NBA Senior Vice President of Team Marketing and Business Operations in March 2004 where he is currently responsible for advising NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League teams on all business operations including ticket sales and service, sponsorship development, and marketing. In addition, he oversees the NBA and WNBA CRM and database marketing initiatives. In June 2006, and for the third consecutive season, O’Neil was instrumental in NBA teams combining to set the all-time record for regular and postseason attendance with over 23 million fans visiting games during the 2005-06 NBA season.

O’Neil previously served as NBA Vice President of Business Operations and Team Consulting where he worked closely with NBA and WNBA teams to drive revenue and further develop their brands. In his position, he was a key contributor in the creation of the Best Practices Guide, a resource used today by all NBA and WNBA teams to further assist in their marketing and sales effort.

In 2004, O’Neil’s efforts were honored as he was named to Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal (2004, 2005) and Advertising Age (2006) “Forty Under 40” lists, which recognized him as one of the best and brightest sports executives under the age of 40.

Prior to joining the NBA in May 2001, O’Neil served as President of HoopsTV.com where he oversaw a management team and staff of 60 and orchestrated strategic partnerships with leading companies such as ESPN, Footaction and numerous online partners. During his career, O’Neil also spent five years with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was appointed the youngest Vice President of Sales in the NFL, and two years with the New Jersey Nets as a Corporate Marketing Manager.

An avid writer, O’Neil has published two cases for the Harvard Business School, “Success Factors in Minor League Baseball” and “Balancing Work and Family” in 1998. He has also written and published a book titled, “Fantasy Land to the Rat Race” released in 2000 and geared towards young executives in the workplace.

O’Neil holds a degree in Marketing from Villanova University and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He currently resides in Summit, N.J. with his wife Lisa and two daughters.
