Bill Koenig is Executive Vice President, Business Affairs and General Counsel of NBA Entertainment and NBA TV. He joined the NBA in 1990 and served as the NBA’s Assistant General Counsel before becoming General Counsel of NBA Entertainment in 1993.
Koenig has been instrumental in many NBA accomplishments, including the launch and growth of NBA TV, the NBA’s partnership with Turner Broadcasting to jointly manage the NBA’s digital assets and the creation of NBA China as a separately incorporated operating entity. During his tenure, Koenig has played a prominent role in the consummation of the NBA’s major domestic and international media, licensing and sponsorship agreements. He is also involved extensively in developing the NBA’s television and new media policy.
Koenig is also responsible for the legal affairs of the NBA’s various commercial entities. He has been involved in various NBA litigation matters around the world and provides legal and business counsel to the NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League and their teams and affiliates.
Prior to joining the NBA, Koenig was associated with the law firm of Proskauer Rose Goetz and Mendelsohn, where he was a litigator who concentrated on professional sports and antitrust matters.
Koenig graduated with honors from Harvard University, the London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, where he served as an editor of the Law Review.
Koenig is a native of Hollywood, Florida, and resides in Scarsdale, New York, with his wife and children.
