Harvey Benjamin has senior executive responsibility for negotiating many of the NBA’s important business transactions and acts as principal legal liaison with the finance department and various business segments. He was the principal architect of the NBA Leaguewide Credit Facility, which currently is at $1.8 billion. He also assists NBA and NBAP operating departments in structuring transactions and negotiations with outside parties. He is currently actively involved in expanding the WNBA and NBA Development League.

Prior to joining the NBA in 1992 as Vice President, International Business Affairs, Harvey was a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP, a prominent U.S. law firm. During his 27 years at Proskauer, Harvey was the NBA's principal outside attorney for commercial and business matters. During 1991 and 1992, Harvey lived in Paris, where he established Proskauer's European office. His first responsibility upon joining the NBA was the creation of the business/tax structure of the league’s international business.

Harvey received his bachelor’s degree from Queens College and his L.L.B. cum laude from Columbia Law School. He and his wife Stephanie reside in New York City. They have two adult children and four grandchildren.
