Hi! I have a question – how to become a good shotblocker? I'm a 6-2 power forward and I don't jump too high (due to knee problems I can only touch the rim). Thank you.
Jay Triano:
I think that shotblocking is overrated. It will often take you out of defensive position and rebounding position. I like to teach players to challenge shots and box out. Changing a shot is sometimes as good as blocking it. The result is the same . . . a missed shot and possession. Stay on the ground.
