What's more important: creative moves like this Iverson pass, or the fundamentals?

From Matthew in Vancouver, BC:

I have watched players like Allen Iverson and I have seen that he has many flashy moves. Is it more important to create new moves or is it more important to work on shooting, passing, dribbling and rebounding?

Jay Triano:

I think that it is more important to work on the fundamentals and as they become second nature, then you can apply what you see on TV to your game. Fundamentals are the key. Good luck.
