What opposing players are saying about "The Answer":
Jerome Williams, Toronto Raptors forward and college teammate
Playing with Allen Iverson was a learning experience for me. In the summer of 1994, I remember when Allen and I first got in the gym, I'm seeing this little guy who's 5'11'' and maybe a buck five in weight (150 pounds) dunking on seven-footers. I was asking myself, what just happened? It was just amazing to watch. I thought, "this guy's going to be in the NBA one day."
Working out in the offseasons at Georgetown was a lot of fun. Being able to play with the likes of Alonzo Mourning (Miami Heat), Dikembe Mutombo (New Jersey Nets), Reggie Williams (formerly of the Nets) and Patrick Ewing (formerly of the Knicks), it was like a basketball player's dream. I remember every day Allen and I walking up to the gym and seeing nothing but Mercedes Benz, thinking, "I wonder who's in the gym today?" We thought if we keep working, maybe we can have one of these fancy cars for ourselves one day . . . players at Georgetown are probably saying the same things about us now.
Playing against him now is so rewarding. We were roommates in college and seeing where he's come from . . . and now to the level that he's at now, the MVP of the whole league, he's doing everything he said he would. It's amazing. I can say I was there and heard it first.

People get too deep into stereotyping him as far as his hair and clothes. That has nothing to do with what's inside you, and more importantly, it has nothing to do with you as a player on the court.
Mark Jackson, Denver Nuggets point guard
He's a great, great basketball player . . . no one guy is going to stop him, you just try to contain him and make him work for everything.
What NBA head coaches are saying about Iverson:
Larry Brown, head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers
He responds to me. He does what I ask. He's really grown up a lot. I think there's a trust there. I'm really proud of what he's done and how far he's come.
He's not afraid to lay it on the line. He doesn't shun responsibility. And when you tell him something, he takes it as coaching now. He's just getting better and better in that respect.
Chuck Daly, former head coach of the Orlando Magic, whose team faced Iverson in the 1999 NBA Playoffs
I don't think you guys have any concept of the impact this kid has on a game. This was the Allen Iverson Show. He's a tremendous competitor. What he does for the Sixers, I don't think even they realize.
Hall of Fame guards' opinions of Allen Iverson:
Bob Cousy, formerly of the Boston Celtics
Everyone told me I wouldn't like him because he plays so out of control. But in the games I saw, he didn't force his shot and he looked to hit the open man. He looked like a pretty effective guard to me.
Dave Bing, formerly of the Detroit Pistons
Iverson's extremely sure of himself, (sometimes) to the point of being cocky, but I don't think that's necessarily bad. He's so quick, he leaves (his teammates) behind. I don't even know that he knows how quick he is.
What AI's current and former teammates think of his play:
Tyrone Hill, Cleveland Cavaliers forward
Everybody expects him to get 30 (points) a night. He expects to get 50 (points). That's the kind of attitude he has to have. If he doesn't, he's not Allen Iverson.
Todd MacCulloch, Philadelphia 76ers centre
It's a lot of fun playing with Allen, he's a great competitor, he wants to win every game and he really enjoys playing the game. When your leader has a good time out there on the floor, you do as well. He plays a fun brand of basketball. Sometimes you catch yourself being amazed by the things he does and sometimes you even find yourself being a part of the play. He gets excited when his teammates do well, he jumps around and he's a lot of fun to play with.
His greatness is a combination of his vertical, his speed, his savvy, great hands and spin moves. He was born to play basketball.
