Jay Triano, head coach of Canada's Men's National Basketball team, responds to your trickiest Ask JT question.

From Carrie in Sudbury, Ontario:

I'm in grade 11 and I would like to be scouted to play in university when I'm in grade 12. How do I get coaches to come out and see me play? Can you also tell me where the best tournaments are? Thank You.

Jay Triano:

There are a couple of things you can do:

1. Write a letter to University and College coaches sending them news clips, pictures and a copy of your schedule.
2. Get someone to videotape a game and send that to University and College coaches.
3. Some areas have recruiting camps or identification camps where coaches are invited to watch you play. Attend them.
4. Try out for your provincial team. There are tournaments in the summer and the practices will help.

Good luck! Remember not every high school player can play beyond high school. The odds are tough! Work hard at your game and at your efforts to play beyond high school.
