Jay Triano, head coach of Canada's Men's National Basketball team, responds to your trickiest Ask JT question.
From Nora in Toronto, ON:
Hi there. I'm a girl who plays on a high school team, and my coach tells me if I only grew taller I would have a perfect performance with a lot more rebounds. I just want to know how I can grow taller. I drink lots of milk, I stay fit, I eat healthy. But I don't know what else to do. Thank you a lot for your time. I would really be thankful if you can give me a few pointers.
Everything that you are doing is what you should be doing. Continue to eat a healthy and well-balanced diet. I do not know if this will help you grow. That we really cannot control.
You can still be a good rebounder without growing. I think the best rebounders are the ones who want the ball the most. Rebounding is based on desire, positioning and effort more than it is based on height. Tell your coach that growing is something that you can't control, but that you will work harder to out-rebound everyone else. Then you have to go out and do it. Good luck.
