Arturo Nuñez, Vice President of NBA Latin America
For us he is something very special to be here developing the second camp. I want to thank for the presence and the support of FIBA, Argentine Nike, Airlines, UNICEF, Mc Donalds and Spalding. Through this program we want to promote the development of basketball in Latin America, and also of social and communitarian activities. The progress of this sport during years has helped to attract this hearing and to construct a base of followers by all the region. Seven years ago, in all the league there were two players of Latin American origin. Today we are proud to initiate season 2004-05 with 16 Latin American players.
Anicet Lavodrama, FIBA
For me it is a pleasure to be here in name of the FIBA. Basketball is a world-wide phenomenon. For that reason we want to take advantage of this to promote the values that this sport brings with it, like education, perseverance. I am proud to be able to arrive at Argentina being supported this program led by the NBA. I am also thankful for the participation of the players, trainers and executives of the NBA.
Claudio Morresi, Secretary of Argentina Sports
When we found out about this program, we wanted to participate actively in it. It gives much joy to have the presence of the NBA, their players, the Argentine players. This place very was left product of the crisis of our country. Day to day we come working to adapt our scenes and power to receive the best sportsmen of the world.
Horacio Moratore, President of CABB
Many are the feelings that like the president of the Confederation in gratefulness to the FIBA and the NBA to give us to the opportunity to be the home of Basketball Without Borders camp this year. Also because it fills to us with satisfaction that is not just a sport but also social program and to help us in this concerted effort to spread our sport. To the media, thank you very much for your coverage and let us continues sponsoring and collaborating with this very important event for our country.
Andrés Nocióni, Chicago Bulls
I am very happy to be part of this a very pretty event for the boys but also for all of us. I believe that they, as much as we, are going to learn much of this. I knew of the social and communitarian reach that makes the NBA around the world, but now to participate he is something very different. One feels very proud and happy for being here to teach to the children so that they follow ahead and continue to improve in their basketball skills.
Carlos Delfino, Detroit Pistons
I believe that it is a unique experience. It is something very great for one to be with all with all these boys of Latin America. I remember when I was small, I longed for the possibility of having players of the NBA for the single fact that touching them was something almost impossible. We as players try to contribute and to help to all these young people who someday yearn to play in the league.
Emanuel Ginóbili, San Antonio Spurs
It is a very pretty experience. I have many well-known ones and friends of the NBA that have done it in other countries and all return astonished at what they see and what they can do. Beyond which is basketball because basketball is an excuse in this case. The social support that makes the NBA in the country that develops these clinics is very important and this is the beginning that will give a continuity to follow in the next years. When I was asked if I would support it, I liked much the idea that we went to my city. Now not as it is going to be the reaction of people, not as it goes to be the answer. But without a doubt I am very contented that the NBA has chosen Buenos Aires and White Bay and that this way can I give back to people everything who have been coming, giving to me for many years. And I believe that this is single, small part of what I can do.
