Day one of Basketball without Borders tipped-off on a sunny day in Barcelona. Hometown star Marc Gasol joined Marcus Camby, Serge Ibaka, Vladimir Radmanovic and Jason Terry, along with the camp coaches, for the opening press conference at the FC Barcelona training facility.
Eager to take to the courts, the campers were divided up by position to work on specific fundamentals to help improve their game. In the afternoon, the campers played in evaluation scrimmages in preparation for tonight’s BWB Draft.
In the afternoon, the NBA players traveled to the MUNDET Municipal Training Center to help lead a basketball clinic for 85 Special Olympic athletes from Barcelona. Marc Gasol was a crowd favorite as he helped teach the athletes proper shooting technique. Jason Terry and Serge Ibaka ran the dribbling station at mid court and Marcus Camby and Vladimir Radmanovic taught the athletes the importance of a good pass. The afternoon wrapped up with a dribbling relay with Serge Ibaka’s team squeaking out a victory.
Tomorrow the campers will find out what teams they have been drafted in and will start training for camp competition.
