How does it feel to help children at basketball without borders in Europe and be in the NBA?
I think I think it’s very important to share our experience as an NBA player her in Treviso because these kids are the best right now in Europe and they are almost ready to go to the NBA and I think that NBA players here know those first steps in the NBA. So I think it’s good for us to give them a little bit of that experience.

I think its really nice that you took part in this summer program, by the way how does it feel to be a coach, and is it your first time?
It’s not my first experience of being a coach, I have a few camps back in Russia and around the world so I have a little experience and I know what to do already.

He Andrei, I am big fan of you and I really hope that you can play next season without any injuries. What position do you like more, small forward or power forward, and how is your chemistry with Mehmet Okur?
Our chemistry in the team is great and everybody tries to help each other. We have a lot of fun and in my opinion our season wasn’t really good because we had a lot of injuries. I was out like 41 games so I can’t really talk about why we lost because I didn’t play and I prefer playing small forward.

How's your health? Are you back to 100% yet from your injuries? Will you be ready to go by training camp?
I will definitely be ready for the training camp and actually right now I feel 100% but I still haven’t played any official practice games. So when I start practicing with the team I need to
check my skills. That will be at the middle of August with the National Team.

When you first came to the NBA you were on a team with two of the greatest NBA players in history, but were also unable to show your skills right away, I just want to know if you think that you would have developed the same way if you had not have been on a team with NBA legends
Those two guys, John Stockton and Karl Malone, they’re like two teachers. These two guys did so many little things and big things for the team and their numbers are under the roof so everybody knows them in America. So for me it was a great experience to learn from them and how they prepared themselves before the game on the floor and what they do. How they kept themselves in good condition for almost 20 years.

Hey glad to see you will be teaching younger players what you have learned. So do you think that being under coach Sloan has changed your perspective on how you would teach others the defensive game or are the fundamentals still pretty much the same as you learned before coming to the NBA?
Jerry Sloan is the same as Karl and John, he is the symbol of the team. He extended his contract for the next two years and everybody knows we have a great coach. We don’t need to find another one and Jerry is a fighter and he likes to fight so right now we have a young team and we’ll fight until we get the results.

Hi Andrei, I am a great fan of yours and I follow every game you played since you came into the NBA. I see you as a possible MVP of the future and also Defensive Player of the Year. With the injury you sustained in 2004-2005 season bringing an end to an amazing start, how will you cope with this when the 2005-2006 season starts? Will you be more motivated to do better?
I don’t need extra motivation, I f you saw my games every time I step on the floor I’m motivated already. It’s not like this is an important game and this isn’t. If you’re not motivated and you don’t play hard it’s a bigger risk for injury. You know injuries happen and last year for me was terrible because I missed so much but in my opinion if you just take it easy or start just joking around or playing around, you have much more chances to get injured. So you need to be concentrated and come to every game with the same attitude.

Andrei, you suffered through an injury last season after making your first appearance in the All-Star Game. Your importance to the Jazz is supported more by your leadership, and how you raise the confidence level of both the fans and your teammates when you step on the court. Do you feel that put you a step back in your career? How do you think the Jazz performed this year? Are you a little disappointed in your record?
Thank you. All I’m trying to do when I step on the floor is help my team win the game and that’s it. Of course sometimes I’m disappointed especially when I can’t help my team but that’s part of the sport and part of professional sport and I understand that. You know what can I do. All I can do is try and recover as much as I can follow doctors recommendation and just try and get healthy. That’s all I can do so I’m trying to avoid the moral part because I’m disappointed but I’m just trying to skip it and try to be ready when I’m healthy.

Andre, I am a huge Jazz fan! What are your thoughts on the NBA Draft and the addition of Deron? Do you think Deron is going to help the Jazz get to the playoffs this up coming season?
Right now we drafted Deron and everybody knows that he’s the best point guard in college basketball at the moment. Deron is more of a team point guard and I think he’s going to be a great addition for us and we’re going to see how he’s going to play. I hoop good! I saw him and he can play good.

Obviously needing very good physical strength playing in the NBA, what exercises would you suggest to build overall muscle strength needed for playing professional basketball, thanks.
Is basketball popular in England? I’m not sure! I think every basketball player or any athlete if they want to play at a professional level he needs to go to a weight lifting gym sometimes not on a regular basis but it’s better on a regular basis. But if you want to play on the highest level you have to be strong you know. Because I can feel it. I was skinny when I first joined the NBA and right now I’m getting stronger and stronger.
