So you think you know Derrick Rose. Well, actually, no one really does seem to know Rose. Heck of a basketball player. We know that. Quiet kid. Seems nice. Seems humble and friendly, if not exactly gregarious. Rose will be the lone Bulls representative here this weekend for the annual All-Star game festival. Rose will play Friday in the rookie/sophomore game and Saturday participate in the skills challenge among top guards. So the NBA world gathers here for its annual mid winter break and dunk off, the basketball world gets to know the young point guard a bit better.
Here's a little bit of the real Rose I've been able to gather being around him this season:
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Rose: "Basketball player."
When was the first time you dunked?
Rose: "Seventh grade."
What's the worst thing you ever did in school?
Rose: "Ditched."
Have you ever yelled at anyone?
Rose: "Yeah, my friends."
What's you favorite meal?
Rose: "Pizza. Home Run Inn."
Who's your favorite player?
Rose: "Michael Jordan."
What's you favorite sport?
Rose: "Basketball, to play and watch."

Rose: "Baseball."

Rose: "Pitcher."
What's your favorite car?
Rose: "Phantom (Rolls Royce)."

Rose: "Hawaii."

Rose: "Obama, Will Smith and Michael Jordan."
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
Rose: "My mother."

Rose: "Twizzlers."

Rose: "CSI."

Rose: "7 pounds with Will Smith."
What's your favorite drink when you go out?
Rose: Strawberry daiquiri. Virgin."

Rose: "Range Rover."
What will you get to celebrate when you turn 21?
Rose: "I don't know yet. I have almost everything now."
When was the first rime you ever were at a pro event?
Rose: "When LeBron came to Chicago for the Roundball Classic.
What was your favorite subject in school?
Rose: "English."
What's your dress?
Rose: "Casual, plain. Jeans, not suit and tie yet."
What's on your iPod?
Rose: "I lost it when we were in L.A. Had to buy me another."
How many songs did you have?
Rose: "Maybe 600. I listen to them over and over. Most have a lot more."
What would people be surprised that's in there?
Rose: "Bob Marley."
What's your favorite music?
Rose: Lil' Wayne."
What's your favorite video game?
Rose: "X-box 2K9
Are you an early riser or late sleeper?
Rose: I used to sleep late. Once the season started, I can't get myself to sleep past 8:45 or 9.
Who in history would you most like to meet?
Rose: "Jackie Robinson."
What was your scariest moment?
Rose: "Announcing which college to go to."
What day were you the happiest?
Rose: "Draft say and seeing my mother so happy."

Rose: "To become the best basketball player ever."
