AMONG NBA’S HOTTEST TICKET
Tickets to Chicago Bulls home games were among the top sellers in the league. The Bulls averaged 19,736 fans (3rd in the NBA) at the United Center this season. Chicago had 11 sellouts this season and went 3-8 when playing in front of a full United Center. The Bulls also hosted the seven largest crowds in the NBA this season.
The largest home crowd in the NBA this season came on Mar. 13 versus the L.A. Lakers when the United Center was packed with 23,067 fans. The other top six United Center draws were (in order): 22,411 vs. Seattle (11/15); 22,378 vs. Philadelphia (11/07); 22,315 vs. Boston (01/03); 22,282 vs. Cleveland (12/20); 22,202 vs. New York (01/17); 22,076 vs. Memphis (02/21). Besides Chicago, the largest crowd by any other NBA team this season is held by Detroit. The Pistons have filled The Palace of Auburn Hills to its capacity of 22,076 on several occasions.
CRAWFORD FIVE-O
When Bulls guard Jamal Crawford went for a career-high 50 points (18-34 FG, 8-11 FT) at Toronto (04/11), he became the first Chicago player to score 50-plus points in a game since Michael Jordan scored 55 points against Washington during the 1997 playoffs (04/27/97). Crawford’s 50 points marked the first time that a Bull scored at least 50 in a regular season contest since Jordan dropped 50 points (18-33 FG, 13-14 FT) at Miami during the 1996-97 season (11/06/96).
Crawford joined Philadelphia’s Allen Iverson (50 vs. ATL, 11/29), Seattle’s Rashard Lewis (50 at LAC, 10/31) and Orlando’s Tracy McGrady (51 at DEN, 11/14; 62 vs. WAS, 03/10) as the only players to score 50 or more points in an NBA game this year.
FOUR SCORE AND 19 YEARS AGO
When Chicago fought off the L.A. Clippers on Apr. 2 at the United Center for a 114-110 overtime thriller, four Bulls players scored 20+ points for the first time in over 19 years. Eddy Curry tallied a team-high 27, Jamal Crawford scored 24, Kirk Hinrich added 21 and Jannero Pargo came off the bench and chipped in 20. Prior to that game, the last time four Bulls scored 20+ points in the same game came on Nov. 16, 1985 during a 132-128 overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Chicago Stadium. That night Chicago was playing its ninth game since second-year star Michael Jordan broke his left foot and Orlando Woolridge led all Chicago scorers with 25 points, while Dave Corzine had 23, George Gervin 22 and Sidney Green finished with 21.
BOOK HIM PARGO
Jannero Pargo went for a career night in his first game after being signed for the remainder of the season. The 6-1 point guard established career highs in points and assists en route to tying three different milestones against Milwaukee on Mar. 26. Pargo came off the bench and scored 34 points, on 13-22 FG shooting and 7-12 3FG, and added 9 assists.
His previously bests were 18 (vs. DEN, 04/15/03) and 5 assists (three times). On the night, he tied a Bulls franchise record with 7 three-pointers (Michael Jordan vs. GS, 01/18/90; Jalen Rose at ATL, 01/20/03) and tied United Center records with 5 three-balls in a half (Craig Hodges vs. IND, 03/13/89) and 4 three-pointers in the second quarter (most recently Rick Fox, LAL, 03/11/03).
