February 29, 2008 – The Chicago Bulls announced on Friday the team will autograph the Northern Illinois University t-shirts they wore during recent games. The t-shirts will then be donated to the NIU Foundation, which has established a scholarship fund to honor the memory of the victims in the February 14 tragedy.

The February 14 Student Scholarship Fund will receive gifts through the NIU Foundation and award scholarships to deserving students in the name of those who lost their lives in the shooting at Cole Hall.

The Bulls honored the victims of the tragic shooting at Northern Illinois University by wearing NIU t-shirts during their pre-game activities for games last week. The team wore the NIU t-shirts including the Huskies logo when they played the New Jersey Nets on Feb. 20 and wore them again when they hosted the Denver Nuggets on Feb. 22. The team also observed a moment of silence before the national anthem at the Denver game to allow fans to pay their respects.

“The NIU tragedy stunned and saddened our entire organization and it is only appropriate that we express our concern for the victims and our solidarity with the entire NIU family in this way,” said Steve Schanwald, Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President of Business Operations.
