Hinrich Named Bulls Player of the Year

April 9, 2004 -- The Chicago Bulls announced today that CDW/HP has selected guard Kirk Hinrich as recipient of the CDW/HP Chicago Bulls Player of the Year for the 2003.04 season. The 6-3, 190-pounder was also selected CDW/HP Player of the Month in both January and February for his outstanding play.

Chicago drafted Hinrich in the first round of NBA Draft 2003 (seventh overall) and the rookie point guard has appeared in 72 of Chicago’s 76 games to date, including 62 starting assignments. He has posted averages of 11.9 ppg, a team-high 6.6 apg, 3.4 rpg, 1.36 spg and a team-high 35.2 mpg, while shooting .383 from the floor, including .384 from three-point range, and .810 from the free throw line. He has led the team in assists 44 times and in points 11 times.

Among NBA leaders statistically, Hinrich ranks eighth in assists per game (6.6), 15th in the NBA in three-point field goals made (133), tied 22nd in steals per game (1.36), 31st in three-point field goal percentage (.384) and 39th in free throw percentage (.810).
