Torn ACL Sidelines Fizer
On Monday, Marcus Fizer met with Bulls team orthopedic surgeon Ira Kornblatt. Korblatt confirmed the diagnosis of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear that will require surgical repair. Further information regarding the surgeon, date and location will be forthcoming.
"He's handled everything like a pro and worked so hard," Bulls EVP-Basketball Operations Jerry Krause told the Chicago Tribune. "I feel bad for him. And I feel bad for us too. This takes away one of our best players. I think he would've been Sixth Man of the Year."
February 1, 2003 -- On Saturday, the Bulls placed forward Marcus Fizer (right knee sprain) on the Injured List and activated center Dalibor Bagaric.
Fizer left Friday night’s game at Portland with 3:28 remaining in the fourth quarter after injuring his right knee and did not return. In his second season, the 6-8, 260-pound Fizer appeared in 38 games, averaging 11.7 ppg, 5.7 rpgand 1.3 apg, before being placed on the Injured List.
Bagaric has appeared in three games this season, averaging 2.0 ppg, 2.7 rpgand 1.00 bpg, shooting .333 from the floor. The second-year center has missed the last 17 games on the Injured List with left knee tendinitis. The 7-1, 290-pound center was in uniform at Seattle on Saturday evening.
