Chicago Obtains Sefolosha in Draft Night Deal
Bulls get 6-5 guard for Carney, future second round pick and cash

June 28, 2006 - The Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers made the following trade tonight: Chicago traded the Draft rights to Rodney Carney (the 16th overall pick), New York’s 2007 regular second round pick held by Chicago and $1.0 million cash to Philadelphia for the Draft rights to Thabo Sefolosha (the 13th overall pick).

Sefolosha, a 6-5, 215-pound guard, played in 21 games for Angelico Biella of Italy’s A League in 2004.05 and averaged 12.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 2.3 apg, while shooting .500 from the floor, including .436 from three-point range, and .662 from the free throw line.

Carney averaged 17.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.33 spg and 1.3 apg in 37 games with Memphis last season. He played in 133 games over his four-year career as a Tiger, and holds the school’s record for career three-pointers made (287).

The 2007 regular second round pick the Bulls included in the trade with the 76ers was originally obtained by Chicago, as part of its multi-player deal with the New York Knicks on October 4, 2005.
