Bulls sign Tony Snell and Erik Murphy

July 10, 2013 -- The Chicago Bulls announced today the signing of 2013 NBA draft picks Tony Snell (20th overall) and Erik Murphy (49th overall). Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Snell, a 6-7, 200-pound guard out of the University of New Mexico, joins the Bulls after wrapping up a three-year collegiate career with the Lobos. A native of Riverside, Calif., Snell appeared in 104 games (77 starts) where he averaged 9.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.0 apg and 0.50 spg in 24.8 mpg. He also shot .421 from the field, .380 from behind the arc and .821 from the line.

This past season, Snell was selected Most Valuable Player of the 2013 Mountain West Tournament, as well as Second Team All-League, as he helped the Lobos claim both the regular season Mountain West title, and the Mountain West Conference Tournament title. He left New Mexico ranked 10th in school history with 434 3FGM, as he improved his three-point shooting percentage every season while on campus (2010-11: 29-84=.345, 2011-12: 72-186=.387, 2012-13: 64-164=.390).

Murphy, a 6-10, 230-pound forward from the University of Florida, capped a four-year career in Gainesville where he played in 136 games (67 starts) and averaged 7.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.7 apg, 0.63 bpg, 18.3 mpg and shot .514 from the field, .435 from downtown and .757 from the line. His senior season with the Gators, he earned First Team All-SEC accolades after he posted 12.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 0.69 bpg and 0.64 spg in 26.4 mpg. He also shot .516 from the floor, an SEC-best 453 from deep (72-159 3FG) and .784 from the line.

Snell, who will wear No. 20, and Murphy, who will wear No. 31, will make their first appearance in a Bulls uniform later this week at the NBA Summer League 2013 in Las Vegas.
