2012-13 Luvabulls: Meet Jessica

>> Back to the 2012-13 Chicago Luvabulls index

What does being a member of the Luvabulls mean to you?

This organization is so much more than dancing and performing. I’ve grown as a young woman by being a member of this team. The Luvabulls have become my second family and I am so honored and proud to be a part of this great organization.

How has your dancing experience led you to this point?

I’ve danced all my life, so I think all of the training that I have had has prepared me to be a flexible dancer and with that I am able to keep up with the style that is synonymous with the Luvabulls.

What is your claim to fame—besides being a Luvabull?

I think my claim to fame is my commitment and dedication to my dreams. I am hoping that my abilities as an up-and-coming hair stylist will help me get to the fame that I want to achieve one day in the future.

What do you do for a living?

I am a full time student in cosmetology school. I go to classes in the morning learning the fundamentals behind hair and I take clients in the afternoon applying the concepts learned in class.

Describe the feeling of performing at a Bulls playoff game.

Performing at a Bulls playoff game is indescribable. The energy that I feel from the fans keeps me motivated to dance and perform to the best of my abilities.

What people do you admire the most and how have they supported or inspired you as a dancer?

I admire my mother for raising me to be the strong minded person that I am today. She is such a strong woman and I am honored to be her child. I also admire my sister, Janeen. She is so smart and kind-hearted, I look up to her in so many ways. Lastly, I admire my twin brother, Jeremy. He is the reason why I am finally enrolled in cosmetology school. He believed in my talent and pushed me to go out for what I love. My family is everything to me and without them I would be nothing.

What is your proudest accomplishment to date and where do you see yourself in 10 years?

My proudest accomplishment to date would be enrolling in cosmetology school. I love that I can make someone happy by giving them a style that they love.
