Meet Luvabull Danielle S.
25 / August 31
I was born and raised in Parma, Ohio! I made my first big move Summer of 2007 to the great big city of Chicago and have loved every second of living here!
I'm a person that likes to stay busy and moving; office positions have never been right for me! I spend my time as an in-home caregiver to a beautiful baby girl, instruct, direct, and guide younger minds in the art of dance, and I am a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.
I attended the University of Akron; but have always been a HUGE Buckeye's Fan! (GO BUCKS!!)
I have mostly Russian blood with a mixture of German and Irish as well.
My dance experience began as a hobby at the age of seven. Within two years, it grew to become my life's passion. While in elementary and high school I was trained and competed for Diann's Dance in jazz, ballet, pointe, hip hop, lyrical and tap! Here I was exposed to many of our area's dance instructors and fortunate enough to be a member of our dance company that won numerous awards year after year.
As high school graduation approached I knew dancing would continue to be the biggest part of my life; and I was determined to soak up as much knowledge as I possibly could. This was all possible once I was accepted to the University of Akron's Dance Department. While I was there, my studies were focused on ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. The knowledge and experiences I was granted will last a lifetime and am so grateful that I was able to continue my dance education!
During my senior year at the University of Akron, I knew once again that dancing was still going to be apart of my life! I began auditioning for many different companies and teams in Cleveland and the Chicago areas. When I was given the opportunity to become a Chicago Luvabull I jumped at the chance!
I would love to direct my own dance studio where I can enrich children's minds, souls, and bodies through the artistic movements and styles of dance. I find that sharing gifts that have been given to you is the best way to give back to the community!
Three words that describe me are
Determined, Generous, Energetic
Quote to live by
James Dean sums it up for me with "Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today." Meaning live each and every moment to its fullest potential and give it everything you have!
Channel surfing while watching a television program really drives me up the wall!
My claim to fame is...
Being a Chicago Luvabull!
Most people don’t know this about me...
If I am on vacation near the ocean, I will never go near the water. I am deathly afraid of sharks and jellyfish!
Years on squad
This is my third year!
Why I chose to be a Luvabull
Initially I was just looking to continue my dancing career; I was not quite ready to put away my dancing shoes! Once I accepted this amazing opportunity three years ago, I found my Chicago family! The Luvabulls are a group of extremely talented, creative, hardworking, and beautiful - both inside and out - women; I am very proud to be able to call myself one of them!
Christmas is my favorite holiday, hands down! The reasoning…because I am able to have huge family get-togethers! For some unknown reason, Christmas is the only holiday everyone seems to attend.
Besides the holiday parties, my family has many traditions that take place between December 23 and December 26. For example, my family still attends the children’s mass even though we are all in our twenties, or that if we don’t sing the Twelve Days of Christmas the evening officially never ends! If I wasn't around to be apart of these activities I'm not so sure it would ever really be Christmas to me.
I also absolutely love when I am out and about during the holiday season how the whole world is just transformed! Everyone comes together and puts all their differences aside. All I feel is the genuine happiness and joy everywhere I go!
Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Hitch
I believe that I always come prepared for the best or the worst of what could possibly happen. Just ask any of the girls…I am apparently the go-to person when someone needs something “odd” on game day!
Book I’m reading now
I am currently on the second book in the Harry Potter's series (The Chamber of Secrets). I am also reading The Shack by WM. Paul Young.
Favorite type of music
Country is the music that soothes my soul! However I love everything out there!!
How do friends see you (three words)
Funny, Optimistic, Sweetheart
My proudest accomplishment to date is...
Never giving up on my dream to dance and make it apart of my everyday life! Thanks to everyone who has helped me along this great journey!
What is the best gift you have ever received?
This year for my birthday I was given a book from my grandma. When I began reading it, it was filled with stories of her life growing up and how my parents and myself fit into our family and her life. To me, knowing my families’ history and their stories is very important! I love know where we have come from and why! The absolute best times in my life are sitting around listening to my Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents talk about growing up with all their childhood memories!
Exactly what I am doing now!
Advice to young dancers
Always be positive and continue to reach for the next highest star. If you don’t, you will be settling and dancers never settle, they continue to grow and evolve every moment they are moving! Obstacles may get in your way but there are always ways around them. The solutions may not be obvious however, if you keep attacking the problem it will eventually be solved; and you will feel more accomplished and satisfied with yourself for defeating it!
