April 11, 2008 – To celebrate the Chicago Bulls and Harris Adopt-A-School Program, Bulls forward Andres Nocioni hosted an assembly on April 10 with more than 150 kindergarten through eighth grade students at Zapata Academy, the winner of the Adopt-A-School partnership.

Through the Chicago Bulls and Harris Adopt-A-School Program, the organizations actively support one local school a year by offering assets to the school to encourage students to excel in their studies and help maintain superior attendance records.

Nocioni, along with Bob Love and Benny the Bull, participated in free throw, dribbling and passing drills with the students and took part in a question and answer session to celebrate Zapata’s win.

Harris also presented a check to Zapata Academy in the amount of $2,500, in conjunction with a donation of laptop computers from the Bulls and Harris to Zapata as they rebuild their computer lab.

As the Bulls and Harris Adopt-A-School partner, Zapata Academy receives special benefits such as tickets to Bulls games, player and Bulls celebrity appearances, tours of the United Center, and a cleanup event of the school grounds with players.

As a special treat, one student was chosen at the assembly to serve as an honorary ball child for the Bulls game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. As honorary ball child, the lucky Zapata student will rebound for Bulls players during their pre-game warm-ups, receive four 100 level tickets to the game, and an autographed Bulls jersey. Additionally, all the students attending the assembly received Bulls gifts.

Chicago K-8 grade public schools were eligible for the honor to be apart of the Chicago Bulls and Harris Adopt-A-School Program. Schools applied online at www.bulls.com and were judged based on their application and an essay.
