March 27, 2009 – The Chicago Bulls honored the Whitney Young High School boys basketball team at halftime of the March 26 game versus the Miami Heat for winning the Illinois Class 4A State Boys Basketball Championship.

The Whitney Young Dolphins, led by head coach Tyrone Slaughter, won the title with a 69-66 victory over the Waukegan High School Bulldogs.

Additionally, the team also hosted Derrick Rose’s alma mater, the Simeon Career Academy boys basketball team at the evening’s game.

As a special treat, both teams got to watch the Bulls’ pre-game shootaround courtside. Rose also personally greeted the players and signed some autographs.
