Ronnie Brewer and Brian Scalabrine host reading timeout at Deerfield Dunkin’ Donuts

The Bulls, Rush University Medical Center and ComEd coordinated the event as part of the Bulls’ ongoing Read to Achieve program, which inspires literacy among Chicago’s youth by encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children

As part of the Read to Achieve program, Ronnie Brewer, Brian Scalabrine, Bob Love and Sidney Green along with Benny the Bull hosted a reading timeout for 25 students from the North Suburban YMCA at a Deerfield Dunkin’ Donuts on January 25.

Beginning at 4 p.m., the students were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how Dunkin’ Donuts decorates their donuts and twists their bagels. In addition, the players participated in a reading session with the students and helped them decorate some of their own donuts.

The Bulls, Rush University Medical Center and ComEd coordinated the event as part of the Bulls’ ongoing Read to Achieve program, which inspires literacy among Chicago’s youth by encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children. As part of its annual commitment, the Bulls host reading timeouts with local children, distribute more than 5,000 new books and organize literacy activities. Rush University Medical Center and ComEd are partners of the program.
