January 21, 2009 – On Wednesday afternoon, the entire Chicago Bulls team, along with John Paxson, Johnny Bach and Chuck Swirsky, hosted a swearing-in ceremony for more than 30 Navy recruits at the Bulls training facility, the Berto Center.

The recruits will be a part of the 2009 Chicago Bulls Sponsor Division. This year’s ceremony involved recruits from across the Chicagoland area.

Basic training for the Chicago Bulls Division will last nine weeks at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. During their training, the recruits will merge with the balance of their shipmates forming the 88-man Chicago Bulls Sponsor Division. They will then remain together as a single Chicagoland unit proudly displaying the Bulls Division banner wherever they go.

As part of the Chicago Bulls Division, the recruits will also receive special attention from the Bulls in the way of player appearances during the course of their training.

After the ceremony, the Navy recruits and their families got to meet Bulls personalities and players, including Derrick Rose, Ben Gordon, Andres Nocioni and more. Everyone attending was also treated to lunch provided by Vienna Beef.

The Bulls are the only NBA team to sponsor a Navy Recruit Division.
