Bulls stock local school library with new books
Thomas, Pargo and Hunter visit Henry H. Nash Elementary
October 26, 2009 – To tip-off this season’s Read To Achieve program, Tyrus Thomas, Jannero Pargo and Lindsey Hunter hosted the “Operation Stock the Library at Henry H. Nash Elementary” on Monday afternoon.
The players, along with Bill Wennington, Sidney Green and Benny the Bull, filled the school’s library with $7,000 worth of new books. To celebrate the book donation, the players also participated in Reading Timeouts with the students.
The Bulls, Rush University Medical Center and ComEd coordinated the event as part of the Bulls’ ongoing Read To Achieve program, which inspires literacy among Chicago’s youth by encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children. As part of its annual commitment, the Bulls host Reading Timeouts with local children, distribute more than 5,000 new books and organize literacy activities. Rush University Medical Center and ComEd are partners of the program.
