December 10, 2006 — The Chicago Bulls, Midway Moving and Storage and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events hosted a holiday food drive on December 9 to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Prior to the 7:30 p.m. tip-off of the Bulls’ home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, fans were encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at any of the United Center admission gates.
Additionally, Bulls legend Scottie Pippen visited Woodlawn Middle School in Long Grove, IL and gave out autographs to anyone who brought in canned goods for the Bulls Food Drive. Pippen presented the donated food at the game on December 9.

As a result, a total of 4,774 pounds of food was collected for the Food Depository just in time to distribute for the holidays.
Fans not attending that evening’s game may still assist in the collection by purchasing food items or making a donation in the virtual food drive at Bulls.com.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, is a not-for-profit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. For more information, log onto www.chicagofoodbank.org or call 773.247.FOOD.
