Over 600 fans attend sold out FestaBulls dinner auction

Held at the home of Bulls basketball, the United Center, the sold out event raised nearly $200,000 for CharitaBulls, the charity arm of the Bulls that promotes youth programming

February 1, 2011 – The Chicago Bulls and Verizon Wireless hosted more than 600 Bulls fans at the 22nd annual FestaBulls dinner auction on January 31. Held at the home of Bulls basketball, the United Center, the sold out event raised nearly $200,000 for CharitaBulls, the charity arm of the Bulls that promotes youth programming.

The evening was highlighted by live and silent auctions, as well as the opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with their favorite players, coaches, broadcasters and legends. Members of the team were on hand to sign autographs, mingle with guests and bid on autographed items from NBA stars across the league. Former Bulls’ Scottie Pippen, Toni Kukoc, Bob Love, Sidney Green, Johnny Bach, Tom Boerwinkle, Dave Corzine, John Mengelt, Mickey Johnson, Bill Wennington, Stacey King, Randy Brown and Kendall Gill were also at the event.

The live and silent auctions featured a variety of sports memorabilia such as Bulls’ autographed uniforms, shoes and basketballs. Guests also bid on other items such as a two hour party at the Bulls training facility for 20 kids with Benny the Bull and a Chicago White Sox Bat Boy/Bat Girl Experience.

During the program, the Bulls honored Joakim Noah for his community service with the Charles Lubin Memorial Award. This award, named after a Bulls’ investor, is given to a player who demonstrates outstanding dedication to improving the community.

All proceeds from FestaBulls benefit CharitaBulls, the philanthropic arm of the organization. The non-profit organization was created in 1987 with the primary objective to actively support positive educational and recreational opportunities for children and young people. Throughout the years, CharitaBulls has distributed tens of millions of dollars to a long list of charities.
