Bulls host 500 fans at 20th annual FestaBulls dinner auction
April 3, 2009 -- The Chicago Bulls and Verizon Wireless hosted more than 500 Bulls fans at the 20th annual FestaBulls dinner auction on Thursday. Held at the home of Bulls basketball, the United Center, the event raised funds for CharitaBulls, the charity arm of the Bulls that promotes youth programming.
The evening was highlighted by live and silent auctions, as well as the opportunity for Bulls fans to get up close and personal with their favorite players, coaches, broadcasters and legends. Members of the team were on hand to sign autographs, mingle with guests and bid on autographed items from NBA stars across the league.
Guests attending FestaBulls had the opportunity to dine and mingle with the Bulls’ players.
The live and silent auctions featured a variety of sports memorabilia such as Bulls’ autographed uniforms, shoes and basketballs. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on other items such as a Chicago White Sox Ball Person Experience and Oprah tickets.
During the program, the Bulls honored forward Tyrus Thomas for his community service with the Charles Lubin Memorial Award. This award, named after a Bulls’ investor, is given to a player who demonstrates outstanding dedication to improving the community.
All proceeds from FestaBulls, including ticket sales, sponsorships and the sale of auction items, benefit CharitaBulls, the philanthropic arm of the Bulls organization. CharitaBulls was created in 1987 as a vehicle for the Bulls to help make Chicago a better place to live. The non-profit organization’s primary objective is to actively support positive educational and recreational opportunities for children and young people. Over the years, CharitaBulls has distributed tens of millions of dollars to a long list of Chicagoland beneficiaries including Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Public Library, Chicago Park District and Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.
