December 18, 2006 — The Chicago Bulls and DCFS hosted their annual Holiday Party for intact families on December 17, at the Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy in Lisle.
Bulls’ players Chris Duhon, Andres Nocioni, Luol Deng and Thabo Sefolosha along with Bulls mascot Benny the Bull participated in a variety of activities and an afternoon of entertainment, lunch and the distribution of holiday gifts for each child attending the event.
In its efforts to encourage families to feel encouraged and uplifted during the strenuous holiday season, DCFS partnered with Midway Moving and Storage, McDonald’s Corporation, Harlem Irving Plaza, Randolph Flower Shop and Dominick’s to provide each family with an entertaining afternoon.
As an added bonus, Chris Duhon made a financial contribution to underwrite the cost of the event.
“It’s important for me to give back to the community, especially during the holiday season,” said Duhon. “The Chicago Bulls and DCFS Holiday Party is a great way for families to experience all that the holidays symbolize -- having fun, being in the company of those who care, and having a positive outlook for the future.”
In line with its year-round commitment to give back to the city of Chicago, the Chicago Bulls have planned numerous events to share the joy of the holiday season with Chicagoans in need. Along with the DCFS Holiday Party, the Bulls have coordinated several other events this month including: a Holiday Food Drive with Midway Moving & Storage benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository (December 9), the Chicago Housing Authority’s Kids’ Holiday Party (December 20) and a holiday/birthday party for the Lost Boys of the Sudan with Luol Deng (December 31).
